The DeFever Cruisers Florida Winter Rendezvous was held in January 2007 at the Club at Hammock Beach in Palm Coast, Florida. It was a terrific event and a great venue.
The program started with our traditional Docktail Party on Friday evening. Usually it is held on the docks. But it was chilly, so we moved inside the Club.
The next day opened with a general meeting of the members and guests. Bob and Barbara Dein, the founders of DeFever Cruisers, were declared King and Queen for their ten years of leadership. Hank Haeseker, our Chief Pilot, painted a picture of the future of the Cruisers and introduced the new DeFever Cruisers Website that you see before you now. Then our 20 seminars got underway on cruising, insurance, vessel design, engines, troubleshooting, provisioning, and more.
Our second party, a barbecue by the pool, was a big success, but indoors where it was warm. Then after a second day of seminars, the grand "Die Another Day Banquet" rocked the Club with the best music from the 50s and 60s and a costume contest for the best characters from the James Bond movies. Auctioneer, Glen Moore, got the bidders going on a new Stidd Chair and a long list of exceptional bargains.
If you were there, you know it was great fun. If not, you really missed a good one.
